Any author wishing to have a book reviewed, please contact me at email@example.com.
I will accept hard- or soft cover, Kindle, epub, or pdf files. Please no romance, sword/sorcery fantasy, erotica, non-fiction, how-to. Sci-fi and YA only on a limited 'if I'm interested' basis.
I enjoy mystery, suspense, horror, police procedures, and thrillers.
In your email, please submit name (duh!), website (must have), and any relevant information about your book (including publisher and purchase sites). Please do not send attachments with queries. Any email with unrequested attachments will be deleted without reply but not before I track you down and spraypaint nasty messages on your lawn. I will attempt to reply as soon as possible, or whenever I get done playing with the cat.
Excellent. No mistakes (or those that can be dismissed)
Close second. Usually will be seen for adventure/quest stories.
A very good mystery, thriller, or other book with great action, one that catches my attention and shows me some very good material
Your off the shelf mystery, thriller. A very good story with some either standard plots or some familiar characters. Authors I would read again and again.
Take a Blue Belt book and have the story go in a different direction than originally thought. Nothing overtly wrong, just something that wasn’t where I thought it would go.
Pretty average, with a few mistakes. Probably wouldn’t read the book unless it caught my eye, but probably wouldn’t read a second from the author.
Some problems with dialogue, characters, grammar/punctuation/spelling. The story was glaringly below average with material not believable.
Yellow Belt: Even more problems than Camo. Unbelievable scenes or characters. Problems with physics, time, more G/P/S mistakes.
A plethora of mistakes and the only thing saving the book was a plausible plot
The lowest rank. Major mistakes. Plot, characters, dialogue, and writing were full of errors and implausible, irrelevant, erroneous information. A book that was probably not edited. G/P/S mistakes that drove me crazy trying to read. A book that did not work throughout.
NOTE: There will be many instances where the rank given has been decided mainly because of the ‘enjoyability factor’ (I know, it’s not a real word), how much I liked/enjoyed the book, whether I couldn’t wait to finish it or wanted it to continue longer. The rank given based on this factor may not have any G/P/S errors per se, or it may have a few.
